Our own SJG member, Steve Hart, is the Chair for the Western New York – Campaign for Alternatives to Isolated Confinement. Members of St. John’s-Grace, St. Philip’s, St. Paul’s Cathedral and VOICE Buffalo are active in the campaign. Solitary Confinement is Torture! I encourage you to join a Virtual Town Hall Meeting this Thursday to learn about the cruel practice of solitary confinement in New York State and how we can to bring Humane Alternatives to (HALT) Solitary Confinement in our community. Come learn from leaders of the #HALTsolitary campaign who have survived solitary or have family who have suffered in solitary. Topics at the town hall will include: solitary in New York, a national perspective, the HALT Solitary Confinement Act, ways to get involved in the campaign, specific action steps to take right now to demand New York’s political leaders enact HALT, and how the movement to end solitary ties into a broader movement to dismantle the entire incarceration system.

Please help organize people in your local area, including new people who have never had a connection to the campaign, to join this national virtual town hall on solitary confinement and the movement to end this racist and deadly torture.
